Moorings consultation extended

THE moorings consultation concerning the Lee & Stort Navigation has been extended, 'in light of recent events'.

The consultation is on proposals to introduce a new moorings management plan for the Lee, Stort and the Hertford Union Canal, that has been prompted by an increase of nearly 40% of boats over the past four years.

Continuous cruiser licence

Many of these boats have acquired a continuous cruiser licence, but actually remain in one place, or move a short distance, to get away with having to pay for a mooring.

British Waterways has been calling upon local authorities, residents, boaters and all who use the waterways to send in their responses, with the closing date now extended to the 31st May.
