Record 31 bikes

WITH it now being the age of the volunteer, at least our waterways will be considerably less rubbish strewn, with those volunteers of Loughborough fishing a record 21 bikes out of the waterway.
This time it was Loughborough Council's volunteer group Clear Cut Conservation, whose members keep the Grand Union Canal through the town clear of rubbish, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Ongoing
It is ongoing work with this group, and in addition to all the bikes they have dragged out two lawnmowers, nine shopping trolleys, a car engine and even a toilet. This of course is in addition to all the usual cans and bottles that people believe the waterway is a depository for.
In addition to all the objects retrieved, it has a total of 81 large bags of rubbish.
