THE teenager who jumped off Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal committed suicide.

The distraught Amy Wright jumped to her death after a text row with her boyfriend, leaving her final text message—'If I can't have you, I don't want to be here, thanks for the best six months of my life' on her cell phone on the towpath of the aqueduct, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Extremely happy

The inquest into her death heard her phone was found after her body was discovered dead at the bottom, and that the care worker had been 'extremely happy' with her boyfriend in their short relationship.

It was told at the inquest that the boyfriend 'wanted some space' and they needed time apart.

She died from multiple injuries as a result of the fall, with Deputy Coroner Kirit Champaneria stating that it caused him pain to record a verdict of suicide on one so young.
