Chester wall collapses

PART of the historic Chester wall by the side of the Shropshire Union Canal in the city has collapsed, blocking the towpath, with rubble falling into the waterway.
It is thought that water in the sandstone had frozen causing the wall to crumble, with inspection now being made to ascertain how safe is the rest of the wall.
The towpath is now closed, but there is some doubt as to its ownership which is preventing it being cleared, and the stone removed from the waterway, though this is still open.
