BOATER Brian Phillips reminds readers that the British Waterways licence increase is not a done deal, and there is a consultation open until the 31st January 2011.

BW tells us it is 'currently consulting on several changes to boat licences to take effect from April 2011. They include a 5.1% increase to the price of a boat licence and other changes to details, primarily to improve our operating efficiency. The changes will increase the budget available for waterway maintenance by up to £0.85 million in a year'.

Brian asks that we include the link below to encourage as many people as possible to respond, reminding that the 2.5% VAT increase will be on top of BW's 5.1%.
