Houses before marinas

A PARISH Council has objected to plans to build a marina unless the plans to build houses around it are passed first.

Bierton Parish Council objected to the proposals to build a marina on the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal unless it was certain plans for 70 homes on the adjoining site were also passed, Alan Tilbury reveals.

However, Aylesbury Vale District Council's strategic development control committee has approved the plans to build a canal basin with moorings and private clubhouse for Aylesbury Canal Society on the waterway in Aylesbury.

The district council itself submitted the application as it wants to build the marina to free up the existing boater facilities in the town centre, which are set to be incorporated into the Waterside scheme.
