Stand-up paddling on the K&A

Published: Thursday, 03 June 2010

TO RAISE funds for charity, two stand-up paddlers are at the moment paddling their way from Bath on the Kennet & Avon Canal on their way to London.

Stand-up paddling means what it says—paddlers stand up on long flat boards, more usually seen for surfing.  The two are Dave Cornthwaite  (pictured) and Sarah Outen who are paddling the 150 miles between Bath and London starting yesterday, 2nd June, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Educational charity

This is in aid  of the AV Foundation and CoppaFeel.  The AV Foundation is an educational charity supporting rural schools in Africa, Asia and Latin America. CoppaFeel aims to publicise the importance of breast examination in younger women to reduce the incidence of late detection or misdiagnosed breast cancer.

The pair hope to arrive at London's Tower Bridge on the 8th June to celebrate World Oceans Day.
