THERE HAVE BEEN THREE MORE closures through low water.

Adding to those already closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Trent & Mersey

The Trent & Mersey Canal has low water levels from Lock 41 to to Lock 70, with the trust telling water levels have dropped due to the current dry weather we are experiencing.

But as soon as water levels have recovered sufficiently to allow safe navigation, the closure will be lifted.

Leeds & Liverpool Canal

The Leeds & Liverpool Canal suffers low water from Lock 65 to Lock 85—the Wigan Flight. This is in addition to the three flights that are closed through low water levels.

The trust tells its team is working to recover empty pounds and distribute water.

Erewash Canal

The Erewash Canal is closed between Lock 62 Lock 63.  This is in addition to the earlier closure on the waterway.

Following recent low water levels on this section of the Erewash Canal, and to help protect levels longer term, the pound between Dockholme Lock 62 and Sandiacre Lock 63 will be closed to navigation.

Now open

The Kennet & Avon Canal has regained its water levels at Little Bedwyn Lock 67 and the pound between Benham Lock 82 and Higgs Lock 83.
