IN ADDITION TO THE SIX NAVIGATIONS closed through lack of water there are now two more.
These are the Macclesfield Canal and the Peak Forest Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.
Lack of water
The Macclesfield Canal is closed at Bosley Flight from Lock 1 to Lock 12 due to lack of water.
The Peak Forest Canal is closed at the Marple Flight Lock 1 to Lock 16, also due to low water levels.
Navigation is of course closed through these two flights, our being told that water levels have dropped again overnight due to the continued dry weather.
Playing havoc
This continued dry weather is obviously playing havoc with boaters attempting to take an holiday cruise with so many stoppages through lack of rainfall. With hire companies particularly effected with such as two stoppages on the popular Llangollen Canal.
And the eight listed is only a part of the overall number of closures.
