A NEW FLOATING RESTAURANT AND BAR is preparing to launch on the Trent Mersey canal network.

It's owner, Lorraine Thomas, telling she is  bringing an intimate dining experiences to the water,  Janet Friend reports.

New venture

Lorraine Thomas is set to launch the Duchess Cruises at Kings Bromley Marina on the Trent & Mersey Canal and is a new business venture who is turning her passion for hospitality, baking and creating memorable experiences, she hopes, into one of the region’s most unique leisure venues.

Following a full renovation, the Duchess narrowboat has been launched and will be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.

Lorraine, an experienced baker, tells she loves catering for people and the tranquility of canal life so it seemed like the perfect venture—although it had been a longer and more difficult journey than planned.

12 guests

The narrowboat can take up to just 12 guests at a time, making it a more exclusive and refined experience than traditional canal trips—serving up brunch and elegant afternoon teas, stylish cocktail and canapé evenings and planned private hire events.

Lorraine, who has more than 25 years’ experience working with people and delivering top customer service, said she wanted to create something that felt special, relaxed and completely different from a typical restaurant or bar.
