THORLBY SWING BRIDGE 174 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is closed to navigation.
The trust tells that a boat impact has knocked it off it bearings and so is now unusable, Keith Gudgin reports.
Its mechanical and electrical team has attended and has identified a problem with the bridge.
Unable to carry out repair
They were unable to carry out any repair, but will be back on site today to hopefully carry out a repair to the bridge and get it back in working order.
It is told that a boat is responsible that must have hit the swing bridge with force when it was closed so fetching it off its bearings.
