OVER THE PAST WEEK repairs have been undertaken and waterways reopened.

The reports by Keith Gudgin.

Tame Valley Canal

Perry Barr lock flight on the Tame Valley Canal that had a significant leak through Lock 10, has been repaired and the waterway reopened.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Lock 7W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal had a failed paddle that closed the waterway, but has now been attended to, and the waterway reopened.

Huddersfield Broad Canal

It was a boaters' key that snapped-off that closed the Loco Lift Bridge of the Huddersfield Broad Canal, making it unworkable for others.

The team attended and fixed the problem with the bridge then workable.

Kennet & Avon Canal

It was a boating incident that unseated the top gate on Burghfield Lock 103 on the Kennet & Avon Canal, closing the navigation.

The team attended the site and  re-seated the gate, but tell that it is very stiff to operate and that care should be taken.

Oxford Canal

Aubrey's Lift Bridge on the Oxford Canal 221 was closed in the down position owing to an electrical fault, and so closed to navigation.

However it was quickly repaired on the same day and is now operational.

North Stratford Canal

Hockley Heath Drawbridge 2 was out of use due to a crack being found in the structure during a routine inspection.

This was inspected, and a repair made with the bridge now fully operational.

Northampton Arm of Grand Union Canal

Water levels were too low for navigation on the Northampton Arm between Lock 15 and Lock 16 closing navigation.

These have been restored and the navigation is open.
