THERE HAS CERTAINLY BEEN too many stoppages over the past few days.
To give boaters the confidence they need to complete their cruises.
The stoppages started in earnest last Thursday the 18th, Keith Gudgin reports.
Four stoppages
With altogether four stoppages on the Oxford, Regents, Wolverhampton Flight and the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal.
This was followed by four more on the Saturday on the Erewash, Stainforth & Keadby, Chesterfield and Leicester Section again at a different location.
Then still another four stoppages on the Huddersfield Narrow, followed by still another stoppage, again at a a different location on the Huddersfield Narrow, the Lee Navigation, then the Macclesfield.
Contradicting description
Then just two on the Saturday. Fazeley (though a contradicting description} and Marple Flight on the Peak Forest.
With two again yesterday, Tuesday, on the Rochdale, Camp Hill Flight on the Grand Union and a new one on the Severn.
So that is 16 stoppages in just under a week, that certainly does not give confidence, and only updates on these so far.
