FOLLOWING ON THE ROTTEN gate beam closing the Walsall Lock Flight last week comes the report of another.

This time on the Grand Union Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Braunston Flight

Lock 2 on the Braunston Flight is out of action, with the trust telling after it had inspected—'The beam is rotten and therefore the lock is inoperable'.

That is certainly clear enough!

So until a repair is made the flight is closed to navigation.

Yet it adds the this lock has sustained damage, and is currently not able to be operated.

Hardly sustained damage—it's rotten!

Oxford Canal

Good news on the Oxford Canal as Grants Lock 30 at Banbury on the South Oxford Canal is operational again and the navigation reopened.
