THE MIDDLEPORT POTTERY by the Trent & Mersey Canal in Stoke has been saved.
Rescued the pottery
A group of investors have rescued the pottery after its original owners gave it up, Janet Friend reports.
It has been taken over by Burberry Group chief executive, Christopher Bailey, together with a group of investors.
The business was founded in 1851 and was known as the most popular ceramic brands in the country.
Also known as Burgess and Leigh, it uses craft traditions such as a tissue transfer printing technique to create its products.
Last one in the world
It is understood the company was the last one in the world still using this traditional method by hand.
This new investment would mean the craft would continue and be preserved.
