PREVIOUSLY  unlicenced sections of the canal network have been made available to anglers by British Waterways.

Hundreds of miles of waterway that are not used by angling clubs have today (Thursday 15th April) been made available to the public at £20 for an annual permit.

122 sites

Altogether this will provide access to 122 sites along the waterways that were previously inaccessible fishing locations in England and Wales.

John Ellis, National Fisheries Manager at British Waterways, explained that this follows the success of a pilot scheme in the north-west, and will be administered by John Harding of British Waterways.
