THERE ARE CONTINUING PROBLEMS with the repair to the paddle on a Huddersfield Narrow lock paddle.
The head paddle on the towpath side at lock 23E failed on the 22nd May, Keith Gudgin reports.
This stopped the paddle from closing and and so stopped the navigation.
Underwater
It was discovered that the problem was underwater so it needed further investigation. Image by Pennine Waterways.
A camera was brought in this week, and though the paddle could be seen the footage is not clear enough to determine the precise problem.
So now a dive team is now required, and it is expected the team will be on site today, Friday, and the problem will be seen, and the paddle either repaired, if possible, or replaced.
