THERE ARE TWO NEW commercial signings at the Mercia Marina development.

This is at the Promenade at the marina.

Delighted to announce

Mercia Marina are delighted to announce that artisan bakery The Green Door Bakery and award-winning butcher and deli The Greedy Pig have agreed terms to open at the new landmark waterfront development, The Promenade.

The new signings, we are told, further strengthen Mercia Marina’s growing reputation as one of the region’s leading lifestyle destinations, adding even more reasons for visitors to shop, dine and spend time by the water.

With a cosmopolitan waterside feel and the charm of a seaside village, visitors can stroll among independent shops, explore public art and sculptures, embark on circular wildlife walks, take boat trips on the Trent & Mersey Canal, or enjoy coffee and cake and restaurant dining right by the water.

Strong reputations

The Green Door Bakery and The Greedy Pig both bring with them strong reputations and loyal customer followings, with the businesses expected to attract visitors from across the region. Founded in Yoxall, Staffordshire, The Green Door Bakery has built a loyal following for its artisan breads, handcrafted pastries and freshly prepared food. Following the success of its original bakery and café, the business is now carefully expanding into select new destinations, with Mercia Marina chosen as the next chapter in its continued growth.

Trisha McCann owner of Green Door Bakery enthused

“We are absolutely thrilled to be coming to Mercia Marina as our third location and can’t wait to bring The Green Door to this amazing destination.

We are so excited to become part of the marina community and share our passion for fresh bakes and fantastic homemade produce with everyone who visits.

Home  coming

For The Greedy Pig, the move also marks something of a home coming, with the owner previously based in
nearby Repton, reconnecting the popular butcher with many existing local customers. The Greedy pig will not only offer its renowned locally sourced and reared quality meats but will also feature a premium delicatessen showcasing homemade pies and pasties, locally sourced produce, and a selection of traditional jams, pickles and preserves—bringing an authentic farm shop experience to the marina.Latimer Higham owner of The Greedy Pig also enthused.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be opening our brand-new premises in Marcia Marina. At Greedy Pig Butchers and Deli, we’ve worked incredibly hard to create a space that reflects our passion for quality produce, traditional butchery, and outstanding customer service. This new location is a huge step forward for us, and we can’t wait to welcome both our loyal customers and new faces from the local community. We’re proud to be bringing something special to Marcia Marina and look forward to serving everyone with the same care, freshness, and high standards Greedy Pig is known for.

Continued momentum

The latest retail announcements reflect the continued momentum behind The Promenade development,
which has already generated strong interest from both businesses and apartment buyers alike.

Designed to offer premium water side living in one of Derbyshire’s most distinctive leisure destinations, apartment sales at The Promenade continue to perform strongly, with a limited number of generous luxury apartments remaining with many owners swapping bigger homes for better lifestyles on a 77 acre estate.
