THERE HAVE BEEN TWO MORE paddle failures that have closed navigations.

The Ashton Canal has more than one paddle broken, Keith Gudgin reports.

With the Canal & River Trust telling that the locks between 9 and 12 have paddle failures closing the navigation yesterday, Tuesday.

It's local team will attend site to assess the paddles and plan a method of repair.

Leeds & Liverpool Canal

The Leeds & Liverpool Canal also has a disconnected, but we are not told on which particular lock.

Only that the stoppage starts at Lock 85 and ends at Lock 21, again on Tuesday.

Once again we are told that the local team will attend site to assess the paddle and plan a method of repair.

Kennet & Avon Canal

This time not a paddle failure, but a leaking gate that has closed the waterway. With it closed from Lock 101 to Lock 102.

Our being told that unfortunately due to excessive leakage at Garston Lock the lock is inoperable, it closing the two pounds.

Both engineers and contractors are working towards a solution.
