PADDLE FAILURES ON THE Huddersfield Narrow Canal have kept two locks closed for navigation.
There are are at present two paddle failures that have stopped navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
One is on Lock 34E where there is a closure as the yoke which connects the hydraulic ram to a paddle has snapped and needs repairing.
It is expected that work will start today, Wednesday, it being delayed due to the Easter Holidays.
Another paddle failure
Lock 24E also has a paddle failure that occurred on the 21st March.
The lock suffered a paddle mechanism failure, with engineers attending the site and established that it will need stop planks putting in place to allow this to be repaired.
This is what has caused the delay. But this time there is no intimation of when it will be repaired and reopened.
