IT WILL BE MARCH when works starts on Hack Green Lock on the Shropshire Union Canal.
Completed in two days
With the repair, we are told, completed in two days, Keith Gudgin reports.
It was 9th February when Lock 2 on the flight was closed it needing a balance beam replacement.
But there was a problem with the various teams, with the original team scheduled to undertake the balance beam replacement being delayed while completing other emergency repair works elsewhere in the North West.
Then to avoid further uncertainty, the trust reassigned this work to an alternative team, but unfortunately, due to its current commitments, they will not be available to work on the Hack Green Lock until Monday the 2nd March.
Reopened
But once on site the repair is only expected to take two days to complete, with the navigation then being reopened by Wednesday 4th March.
The work will consist of repairing a damaged balance beam on the bottom gate.
