THE BIRMINGHAM CANAL NAVIGATIONS SOCIETY is inviting people to attend its Summer Gathering of Boats.

This is held at Titford Pump House over the weekend of the 22nd to 25th May, Keith Gudgin reports.

TitfordPumpHouseNo charge

This year there is no charge to attend the event which will also coincide with the finish of the first Explorer Cruise (on Friday 22nd) and also the completion of the 24 hour Challenge on Sunday 25th. This will ensure a good showing of boats and provide some thirsty customers for its real ale bar.

We’ll have a mobile hot food wagon in the car park on the Sunday afternoon/early evening to cater for anyone, but in particular for the weary challengers who are too tired to cook. On Sunday evening there will be a canal specific quiz for knowledgeable boaters. Image by BCNS.

Duck race

As ever, the duck race will be held at some point over the course of the weekend.

As a Society event, it is very informal, moorings are on a first come first served basis and everyone is welcome.

Despite the informality, insurance and Canal & River Trust require all attendees to complete an Entry From which is available.
