SAFETY CONCERNS HAVE BEEN discovered on Ware Lock on the Lee Navigation.
So this lock is closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
This lock comes under the Environment Agency control and was closed last week to allow the agency to make an inspection.
Left to contractors
It is now left to the contractors to state the extent of the works that is required and when the navigation can safely reopen.
As the lock is owned and also maintained by the Environment Agency, Canal & River Trust are reliant on the agency completing its assessment and any necessary repairs before the lock can be reopened for navigation.
While it remains closed, the trust advise boaters to plan their cruises accordingly.
