We are told it is closed as there is a fault with its electrics.

This is what the engineers discovered when they inspected, but were unable to do anything about the electrics, but no intimation as to why they were unable to do anything.
Sometimes these broken swing bridges are repaired quite quickly, but not this one—as we are informed it will be repaired next week.
