NEW GATES ARE BEING FITTED to City Road Lock on the Regents Canal.
Work is already underway, with the gates being delivered last week ready for replacement.
These were two three tonne lock gates that were craned into place.
Closed to boat traffic
For the the past two weeks, the lock has been closed to boat traffic as the lock was drained with preparatory maintenance being undertaken.
It is not stated when the work will be completed and the navigation reopened, but should not be too long.
In the meantime the work is proving to be a great attraction to the many people passing by, as it is not too often they get a chance to see a lock empty of water.
