THERE WILL BE NO REOPENING of the Aylesbury Arm Canal & River Trust state.

This means the waterway is closed from Lock 1 to the basin, Keith Gudgin reports.

It was on the 16th June that the arm of the Grand Union Canal was closed to navigation together with all 16 locks.

At that time we were informed this was to preserve water levels on the arm whilst maintaining navigation on the main line of the Grand Union Canal.

The trust told that this part of its canal network temporarily had less water available from the reservoirs that feed the canal.

Water levels kept low

This was due to statutory maintenance at Wilstone Reservoir (pictured) where water levels were having to be kept low whilst the works are completed.

There is no intimation when the Aylesbury Arm will be reopened, though boats are stuck being unable to get to the basin or out of it.
