THE WATER LEVELS on the Rochdale Canal have improved.

RochdaleGuillotineThis means that navigation is now possible from Tuel Lane Lock 1 at Sowerby Bridge to Lock 33 at Walsden, Keith Gudgin reports.

So the the navigation has reopened from its start at Sowerby Bridge right over the summit pound that had been closed since the 28th July.

Restrictions

But there are restrictions as part will only be open at the weekends from 9am on Fridays to 3pm Mondays.

This is to allow 'the canal to recharge water levels in the intervening period'.  With the section padlocked out of these hours.

There is conflicting information concerning the locks through Manchester.
