IN ADDITION TO FUNDING much of the winter work, the National Lottery Heritage Fund is funding a restoration.
Restore navigation
This is a project to restore part of the Stroudwater Navigation.
With the National Lottery Heritage Fund giving £6.4 millions to fund the work.
This money will be used to restore the 'missing mile' of the Stroudwater, that was abandoned in the 60's and subsequently filled in for construction of the M5 motorway. Photograph by Lee Grant.
The construction of the missing link should take two to three years to complete. It was last year that the council put in the bid for money, that has now been granted.
Canal & River Trust cancelled
Work however has been underway by the Cotswold Canals Trust in an effort to complete the Thames to Severn Canal that the Canal & River Trust cancelled when the trust was created.
