A BODY HAS BEEN PULLED from the Walsall Canal after the emergency services were alerted.
This has resulted in a police investigation being launched into an unexplained death when the body was recovered from the canal.
This occurred yesterday, Tuesday morning, near Ryders Green, with the cause of death remaining unknown.
Canal drained
It is told that the area of the canal has been drained and a large section of the waterway cordoned off, in addition to a forensic tent also erected while the police worked at the scene.
Police are treating the death as unexplained and a post mortem examination is due to be carried out.
Draining the waterway after a drowning seems unusual, as this is not usually undertaken.
