THERE ARE MORE complaints about rotting boats on the Leicester Section.
This time it is in Loughborough where boats are just being dumped by the side of the canal, in addition to those in Leicester.
Boat graveyard
People are calling the waterway a boat graveyard, telling of dozens of boats being abandoned, some of them having been left there months ago, with little effort to clear them away.
Locals passing these as they walk the towpaths tell of vessels left to rot, with some sunk and on their sides.
One resident Christopher Spence, told:
Not acceptable
"It's not acceptable that these boats have just been left here to rot for months. It's like a boat graveyard and it's bad for wildlife as well as making the place look bad.
"I am worried that if they aren't moved soon then the area will attract fly-tippers. No one seems to take any action."
The abandoned boats are along the waterways around Loughborough and Leicester.
