THE CANAL & RIVER TRUST is still using its 'gate left open' excuse for drained pounds.

This time it is a closure on the Kennet & Avon of six locks, Keith Gudgin reports.

From Cadley Lock 54 to Crofton Lock 60, but not told which gate on which lock was left open.

The trust tells that the flight was closed  due to the pound being drained, as a result of the gate being left open and its operations team are aware and will be on site to assess the situation.

Yet all boaters know that only one set of gates on a lock can be open at one time, opening both is impossible, so the closed gate will stop any pound draining.

What it  most likely is a leak draining the canal.
