Edinburgh Canal Festival this week-end
THIS COMING SATURDAY is the day of the Edinburgh Canal Festival from noon until 5pm.
Residents and visitors are invited to explore the Union Canal between the Lochrin Basin and Harrison Park and to meet some of the organisations that operate year round on and near to the canal, Janet Friend reports.
We are told there will be loads of free activities and entertainment as you travel along the canal in the heart of Edinburgh.
Taking place on 21st June 2025, the festival will feature local businesses, organisations and local community groups that operate on or near the Union Canal. Visitors will have access to information about the organisations, their missions, and goals, and how to get involved or support their work.
There will be three zones to the event that stretch from the Lochrin Basin all the way to Harrison Park West as well as a number of ‘Doors Open Day’ venues along the route. Each zone and venue will have a mix of activities, food and music performances.
The festival is free and open to all, and is organised by the Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust—a celebration of the Union Canal and canalside community.
A full programme on the day’s activities and map are available on the Edinburgh Canal Festival website.
