Getting it wrong

NAVIGATION IS currently closed between Lock 10 and Lock 18 on the Ashton Canal due to a mechanical fault at Bridge 16, [according to Canal & River Trust] writes John.

'Our engineers have been informed of this issue.
An update will be provided Tuesday 24th June after they have visited the location and assessed a plan for repair.

I presume they mean the Swing Bridge which is 15 (16 is a footbridge!) and which took five people to move it last month. And will it really take a fortnight to visit it?'

Another message today is about Poolstock Locks on the Leigh Branch:

'Navigation is currently closed between Lock 85 and Lock 86 on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and Lock 1 on the Leigh Branch due to vandalism with paddles having been left open'.

Lock 2 leaks so badly that unless all four top paddles are open the level will start to drop - I wonder if it really is 'vandalism'?
