Body pulled from Rochdale Canal

A BODY HAS been discovered in the Rochdale Canal in Manchester with the emergency services then called.

When they arrived they pulled the body from the water near to the music arena.

A boater saw what she thought was a coat coming up from under a nearby boat moored on the canal, then she realised it was a body, and so alerted the emergency services. Picture by MEN Media.

Cordoned off

This occurred in the late afternoon of Tuesday, and the body was pulled out by the emergency services. When they arrived the whole area was cordoned off, and boaters and public were then evacuated away from the scene.

Any movement on the canal was stopped to allow the police to investigate. No further information has been released.
