Perry Barr Flight closed for three months

PERRY BAR FLIGHT on the Tame Valley Canal is to be closed for three months in the middle of boating season!

The closure will last from the 9th June to the 29th August, Keith Gudgin reports.

The reason given—'We are planning the replacement of 53 gate leaves in 2025/26'

Alternative route closed

An alternative route is available along the Walsall Canal, the trust reports, though this is closed!

Additionally, there will be a further stoppage on the Tame Valley Canal at Spouthouse Embankment to reline that section of canal and stabilise the embankment.

But no intimation when this will take place. Only, we are told, that the works at Spouthouse will be 'delivered by specialist contractors and will be delivered separately'.
