Man in hospital after towpath attack

A MAN WAS attacked as he walked along a canal towpath yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

The attack on the Old Main Line towpath in Wolverhampton was unprovoked, Keith Gudgin reports.

The man, aged 40, who was assaulted suffered injuries that required him being taken to hospital, though they were not life-threatening.

Police called

Police were called to the incident on the towpath near Cross Street North in Wolverhampton just before 3pm in the afternoon.

An ambulance was also required to transport the man who had been attacked. The attacker ran off before the police arrived.
