IT WOULD SEEM that 'winter works' where all the work needed to get the system all working is a bit of a failure.

For many breakages are still not completed and stoppages keep coming, Keith Gudgin reports.

A browse of narrowboatworld will soon show the works that are still not completed, with all we are getting are updates—like those this week for the Huddersfield Narrow, Grand Union, Lee Navigation, Peak Forest, Leeds & Liverpool and Worcester & Birmingham.

Plus the many navigations suffering water shortages and also closed.

Yesterday, Thursday, we were told that the Leeds & Liverpool is also closed at its Warehouse Swing Bridge 187 caused by a bent pin. And the New Junction is closed as its Top Lane Lift Bridge (pictured) has stopped navigation due failed hydraulics.  Another is the Pocklington Canal that is closed due to a water problem.

Not a very good start of the season.
