Marple Flight closed again
THE MARPLE FLIGHT on the Peak Forest Canal is closed again.
This time it is a fault with Lock 4 on the flight, Keith Gudgin reports.
It is told that it is currently closed to navigation due to an issue with the tailgate.
This means that contributor Julian Warne who wrote in narrowboatworld that he is moored near Whaley Bridge and is hoping to have a cruise at Easter will now be stuck, as both the Marple Flight and Macclesfield are closed to navigation.
Trent & Mersey Canal
The Trent & Mersey Canal also has a stoppage, this time at Hoo Mill Lock 23 Trent & Mersey Canal. The reason for this is given as a 'structure failure'.
However there is the possibility of restricted passage as contractors have been working to find a temporary solution to reopen the navigation.
Huddersfield Narrow
It will not be next week until the Huddersfield Narrow Canal will be reopened.
This is due to the continuing lack of water, even though water pumps have been installed at Lock 12E.
It will not be next week until any benefits of the pumps on the water levels will be be known.
