Erewash back to normal

OF THE SIX STOPPAGES yesterday, the Erewash Canal at least has reopened.

This was closed through lack of water in a pound.

But water levels are now back to normal between Stanton Lock 65 and Hallam Fields Lock 66, Keith Gudgin reports.

With the Erewash fully open to navigation.

Open then closed again

But not so lucky with the Micklethwaite Swing Bridge 199 that was open late on Tuesday 8th but closed again on Wednesday 9th!

Our being told that the M&E team (whatever that is) have attended but discovered an issue with the bridge software which it is working to resolve.

The M&E team are looking into a repair, but until then the bridge in closed to boaters, though open to road traffic.

No information concerning the other four stoppages.
