Now three closures on the Leeds & Liverpool

AT PRESENT THERE are three closures on the the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Hancocks Swing Bridge 9 (pictured) has now failed, adding to the two stoppages on the canal already published today, Keith Gudgin reports.

Two stoppages already

The two stoppages are the Bradley Swing Bridge and the long running 'large void' between Stegneck Lock and Bank Newton Bottom Lock that has had the waterway closed since early February.

Once again it is an electrical fault that has closed Hancocks.

This year there have been five swing bridges broken on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal even though little traffic in the winter.

UPDATE Friday—Bradley Swing Bridge now open.
