More problems on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal

WITH ALREADY six stopages on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal this year, comes yet another.

This time it is for investigation work between Stegneck Lock and Bank Newton Bottom Lock, Keith Gudgin reports.

With the navigation closed from next Monday 17th February. There is no intimation as to what the problem is but most likely it will last until Friday–the contractors' working week!

The Leeds & Liverpool Canal is by far the worst for stoppages, in 2024 it having a total of 29 of various lengths, with four in August and five in September its busiest month.
