THE SOARINGS Dragon boat was swept away on the flooded Soar and lost in a storm in January last year.

It's remains have now been discovered  27 miles away, Janet Friend reports.

SoaringsDragonIt was during Storm Henk that the resulting floods took the dragon boat Major from its moorings on the Soar at Loughborough.

Spotted the wreck

It was Phil Clarke who was driving at Hoveringham and spotted the wreck of the boat upside down by the roadside and as he was aware of an article concerning the boat, he alerted the Soaring Dragons Dragon Boat Club in Loughborough.

When the 40ft dragon boat was first lost the club made public appeals in a bid to find it, but as time passed by and no response it was eventually realised it was lost.

But though now eventually found it is not repairable, but at least the club has closure.
