Investigation ongoing into boat death
THE DEATH of a man on a boat on the Avon on Christmas Day is still ongoing and being investigated.
A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police explained, reports Roger Fox.
Both the Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and the police are continuing to work together on the cause of the fire that killed Ben Hardy.
He was staying in the boat moored by the Anchor Inn pub in Wyre Piddle, near Pershore on the Avon when the fire broke out in the early hours of Christmas Day with a distraught mother receiving the news on Christmas Day that her son had died in the blaze.
Talented chef
Ben Hardy was known as a talented chef who travelled the country to undertake his work. His sister Kirstie Trower telling he was 'footloose and fancy free'.
A fundraising page had been set up to raise money for the funeral and wake because her brother had never thought about making arrangements, she told.
Adding that Ben was working in Worcestershire just for the festive period, and tragically lost his life early Christmas Day morning when a fire broke out on the boat he was staying on as accommodation.
