Boater 'loses everything' in boat fire
YET ANOTHER boat has caught fire with this time it completely burnt-out.
This one was on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal at Frampton, Janet Friend reports.
Only debris left
Being a plastic cruiser, it was completely burnt-out, with only debris left to show by the canal towpath.
It's owner, George Pedley, who took the photograph, tells that he has 'lost everything' as it was all in the boat and is now burnt except the clothes he stands-up in, and just before Christmas.
He believes the fire was caused by fuel and a gas bottle stored on board ignited, he coming back after an evening out after receiving a call that his boat was on fire. to find his cruiser well ignited, as his photograph shows.
Luckily he has boat insurance, but estimates he could have lost many thousands of pounds worth of uninsured content.
Went up very quickly
Nearby boaters told him it went up very quickly and that he would not have been able to get out if he had been inside.
Since he lost his boat George Pedley told he has very generous friends who have lent him money and their sofas to sleep on, as well as clothes.
