Council preventing Caldon opening

IT WAS a structural problem that caused the closure of the Caldon Canal early this month.

WaterTowerThis is situated between bridges 12 and 14 that is the length closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

It is a water tower by the waterway that is causing the stoppage, its dangerous state means that it has to be demolished by Stoke-on-Trent Council to make the area safe.

Nothing done

It was on the 7th of this month that this was discovered after an inspection, but nothing has been done by the council over the past three weeks.

So both the navigation and towpath remain closed as a health and safety issue.

Though the council states it is dealing with this as a matter of urgency and restrictions will be removed as soon as possible.
