Drop-in electric motor for narrowboats

A COMPANY has produced the first ever drop-in electric drive for narrowboats.

Drop-in marine drive solution

Lynch Motors have pioneered the Red Snapper a pioneering drop-in marine drive solution, that works with a boat’s current engine, to convert it to hybrid electric, negating the need to replace the engine as with other solutions.

This cost saving, easily fitted solution, only requires 100mm space on the propshaft in order to be fitted and, as far as the company is aware is the first solution of its kind on the market.

Simple to install, it will fit most boats, including narrowboats, sailing craft, yachts (up to 75hp and subject to engine bay size).

Official launch

Trevor and the team at Lynch Motors designed an early prototype some years ago, but this is the first official launch of the pioneering Hybrid Electric drop insolation, and tell:
