Good turn-out at Stourbridge Open Week-end
THIS year's Open Week-end on the Stourbridge Canal was a most successful event.
People flocked to the annual event at The Bonded Warehouse, that was organised by Stourbridge Navigation Trust, on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October, Janet Friend reports.
There were 50 boat packing the waterway at the free family-fun event in Canal Street together with food, craft and gift stalls, a real ale bar and live music.
Biggest event
This event is the biggest in the trust’s annual calendar, attracting many visitors over the course of the weekend. The narrowboat trips proved exceptionally popular with queues on both days.
A spokesman for the Stourbridge Navigation Trust enthused:
“We were blown away by the number of people that turned up over the weekend—The popularity of the event never ceases to amaze us, and that people come from far and wide to enjoy it.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we get from everybody that comes.”
He praised the efforts of volunteers stating the event would not be possible without the tireless efforts of volunteers who work to plan and coordinate the event.
