Lock closed to single crewed users!

SINGLE crewed boaters are unable to use Lock 40 on the Trent & Mersey.

This is one of the two locks at the summit at Etruria by the junction with the Caldon Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Need to use ladder

Single handed boaters need to use the ladder in a lock to climb down or up to, or from the boat depending of the lock setting.

But this is now not possible as the ladder has broken off and needs to be put back and secured.

Canal & River Trust state that they are contacting a welder to fasten the ladder back on the lock wall, so that single handers can again get through.
