Where's the money for over 150 'winter works'?
OVER 150 navigation closures have been listed in the Canal & River Trust's 'winter works' just announced.
But how will they all be paid for with the trust doubtful of getting more cash than was allotted by the previous government?
Will it get what was promised?
In fact now with a Labour government in power will it even get the money that was promised? Let alone the increase it so solely needs.
Some of these works, including such as cills that need replacing and possible breaches attending to, that contractors drag on for so long and cost so much—how will they be paid for with the trust complaining of lack of cash?
And even smaller jobs dragged-out from Monday to Friday all costing more than they really should, how can the trust manage?
The list of 'winter works' is very impressive, but can the trust possibly afford them?
