Fazeley Mill Marina taken over but no services
THE Fazeley Mill Marina has been taken over by the Rothen Group, a Warwickshire-based civil engineering contractor from marina operator ABC Leisure Group.
Situated at the junction of the Birmingham & Fazeley and Coventry canals, the new owner tells it plans to invest in the site’s infrastructure and replacing mooring facilities.
Ian Rothen, Managing Director of Rothen Group, explained:
“Fazeley Mill Marina marks a significant new chapter for the Rothen Group. It’s already a popular spot for mooring, given its central location and local amenities, and we’re excited to start work on bringing improved facilities to its users."
Not operating services
However we have received information from boaters that the marina is not operating its services, with no diesel being sold or pump-out being operated. It is understood that staff have been made redundant.
Boater John Smedley told us:
"I went in Fazeley Mill Marina for diesel as I have done in the past but there was nothing, only another boater also after fuel, and someone on a boat shouted that it was closed, that is not very good considering the scarcity of diesel in the area.“
We are also told that other services such as Elsan pump-out and rubbish disposal are not being operated.
It is understood there was an agreement with Canal & River Trust to provide services to passing boats...
